IT Security Intern
General Devices (GD) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented IT Security Intern to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our growing company as a full-time, long-term team member to grow with us. The ideal candidate will help us by supporting various security initiatives and assisting with other departmental tasks. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to learn about cybersecurity operations, IT compliance, and endpoint security in a professional environment. You will assist with key security tasks that help protect our infrastructure, data, and end users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track and verify backups across platforms (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Google Workspace)
- Assist with laptop setup, imaging, and Office license key management
- Help maintain and update asset inventory and access controls
- Assist in managing user accounts, password resets, and onboarding/offboarding processes
- Support phishing simulations and track user responses
- Document and update security procedures and compliance records
- Contribute to endpoint protection and software patching initiatives
- Document IT procedures and contribute to process improvements
- Support quarterly updates and patch management protocols
- Assist with customer risk assessments and answering security questionnaires
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Networking, Information Technology, or a related field
- Basic understanding of network security, firewalls, and access control
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, or AWS is a plus (but not required)
- Knowledge of productivity platforms like Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly
General Requirements:
- Be available to work M-F during our business hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm US Eastern Time zone. (Hours may vary)
- Usage of the Google Meet video conferencing and chat.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google suites (Word/Doc, Excel/Sheets,
- Excellent organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Windows PC with camera, headset (if needed), MS Office and Google software suites.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection sufficient for live video/audio calling.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Docs, Drive, Sheets, Etc.)
- Communicate and collaborate frequently and actively with their manager and the rest of the team by live (Google Meet, etc) video conference, phone, email and chat.
- Comply with company IT and data security, quality and other applicable policies.
