Arizona — Improving Pediatric Patient Care
About Pheonix Children's Hospital
Pheonix Children’s Hospital is one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the country. It provides inpatient, outpatient, trauma, and emergency care across more than 75 subspecialties.
It is Arizona’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and the emergency room receives around 20-30 ambulances daily.
The Driving Force for Change
In 2015, they weren’t ready for their communications equipment when they sought to upgrade their state certification to that of a Base Hospital. An Arizona Base Hospital is able to give advanced life support medical direction to incoming EMS crews. Receiving the new designation was contingent upon overhauling their entire telecommunications technology. They needed a new system to more efficiently and securely connect with emergency care teams that were transporting patients to the ED.
